According to the State Statistics Service, in 2016 Ukraine exported goods at the general sum of 36.4 bln USD, including 39.9% of agricultural products supplies. In particular, last year the exports of Ukrainian plant growing products reached 8.1 bln USD, fat-and-oil products - 4 bnl USD, prepared foods - 2.5 bln USD. Grain cargoes covered the major share in the export structure of agricultural products, and in 2016 its sales revenue totaled 22.3% of the general export earnings.

Also, grain cargoes remained almost single commodity group which demonstrated an increase in foreign supplies in absolute terms. So, in 2016 the general exports of major commodity items in the "grains" category totaled 45.2 mln tonnes, up 47% compared with the exports in 2012 (30.7 mln tonnes). Thus, the average export growth reached nearly 10% per year.

Increasing of grains and oilseeds production in Ukraine in terms of some reduction of the domestic demand for both raw materials and finished products, became one of the key factors, which contributed to development of the export trade with agricultural products. At the same time, in terms of agricultural exports development the country started building its export infrastructure, including sea grain terminals. Such trend will allow increasing the volume of foreign supplies, as well as provide competition in the market segment, which in turn will impact at the cost of transshipment services.

You can receive more detailed information about the main trends of the grain export market in Ukraine, and prospects for the further development of transshipment facilities from a new study "Exports of grain cargoes from Ukraine - 2017", prepared by APK-Inform experts.
