Within frames of monitoring of the grain qualitative indices in Ukraine in 2016, the company SGS Ukraine surveyed 562 wheat samples in all regions of the country (in proportion to the structure of its production). According to the results of the sample survey, the share of 2-grade wheat totaled 18.5%, against 10.7% in 2015, 3-grade wheat - 32.4%, against 20.9% in 2015, declared the manager of technical matter and claims department of the agro-industrial complex at SGS Ukraine, Oleg Onishchenko during his report at the second international conference "Grain Processors Forum: Market & Technologies - 2016" on September 22.
At the same time, he said that in the current year the average protein rate in the examined samples of wheat totaled 11.97%, against 11.3% last season.
The gluten remained unchanged compared with last year, and totaled 22.9%. In the current year, the level of sprouted grains was much lower (0.17%, against 0.87%), and the falling number and flour strength also improved, the expert added.
