The exports of Ukrainian flour increased from 83.5 thsd tonnes in 2010 to 368.9 thsd tonnes in 2016, declared the Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, Olena Kovalova on June 23, during a meeting of the working group on the grain market functioning.

According to her, such dynamics demonstrates the orientation of companies-exporters to supply value-added products on foreign markets. In addition, 2016/17 marketing season will break another record for grain exports. In the following season, the export opportunities will be more moderate, in terms of difficult weather and climatic conditions.

Also, the Head of the Agrometeorology department at the Ukrainian hydrometeorological center, Tetyana Adamenko reported about the current agro-meteorological conditions in Ukraine, especially the situation in the country in April-June of 2017.

Ukraine faced such extreme soil moisture conditions throughout its territory for the first time during 40 recent years. A deficit of soil moisture content for the standard vegetation of plants in central and some northern oblasts became the major characteristic feature of the current weather-climatic conditions. Therefore, the Ministry is concerned with the forecast of grain harvest, because analysts will be able to make accurate forecasts only after 15-20% realization of the harvesting campaign, noted O.Kovalova.

Despite possible reductions in crop production, representatives of the grain sector expect for development of high wheat qualitative indices.

Agro-climatic conditions contribute to the qualitative improvement of wheat production. According to the President at the Ukrainian Grain Association, Mykolai Gorbachev, the share of milling wheat can reach nearly 70% of the general harvest.
