Experts revised down the forecast of Russian wheat output

The experts of the analytical center at Rusagrotrans JSC revised down their forecast of wheat production in Russia in 2020 by 0.3 mln tonnes to 77.5 mln tonnes, declared the Head of the analytical center, Igor Pavensky on July 29.

“Nevertheless, the current figure is 3 mln tonens higher than the result of the previous year”, - he said.

Moreover, they lowered their forecast of corn output by 0.4 mln tonnes to 14.8 mln tonnes (+0.5 mln tonnes to the result of 2019) due to the persistent deficit of soil moisture in the southern Russia.

At the same time, the experts revised up their forecast of barley crop by 0.6 mln tonnes to 19.9 mln tonnes, and other grains production – by 0.1 mln tonnes to 12.1 mln tonnes.

“Thus, out estimate of the overall production of Russian grains remained unchanged at 124.4 mln tonnes, meaning Russia will be able to harvest the second largest crop on record. The highest output was reached in 2017 – 135.5 mln tonnes”, - I.Pavensky summarized.
