As of August 1, 2020, Russia harvested 38 mln tonnes of grains and pulses, up 5.3% compared to the same date year ago, including 30.9 mln tonnes of wheat (+3.1%), reported the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat).
According to the announcement, agrarians harvested grains and pulses (excluding corn) throughout the areas of 10.4 mln ha, or 36.3% of the planned areas, against 10.1 mln ha (35.3%) on August 1, 2019.
“Also, in the current year the harvesting campaign of grains and pulses in most territory of Russia started earlier compared with last year. As of the beginning of August, agricultural organizations of the Central, Southern, North Caucasian and Volga Federal Districts already started the grain harvesting works. Also, some regions of the Northwestern, Ural, Siberian and Far Eastern Federal Districts started the harvesting campaign”, - was stated in the message.
The average grain yield totaled 3.65 t/ha, as opposed to 3.59 t/ha on the same date last year. Particularly, wheat yield totaled 3.84 (3.74) t/ha.
