As of April 12, Russian farmers planted spring agricultural crops throughout the general areas of 1.2 mln ha or 2.4% of the forecast (4.3 mln ha year ago), declared the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.
In particular, farmers planted spring grains throughout 822.3 thsd ha or 2.8% of the forecasted area (3.5 mln ha in 2020), including wheat - 47.7 thsd ha or 0.4% of the forecast (551.9 thsd ha in 2020), barley - 345.6 thsd ha or 4.5% (1.8 mln ha in 2020), corn for grain - 1.3 thsd ha or 0.1% of the forecast (48.9 thsd ha in 2020).
Farmers planted spring rapeseed throughout 1.5 thsd ha (out of forecasted 1.24 mln ha), sunflower seed - 14.1 thsd ha (out of forecasted 8.29 mln ha).
As of the reporting date, farmers planted sugar beet throughout 86.9 thsd ha or 8.2% of the plan.
In addition, agrarians applied additional fertilizers to winter grains throughout 9.8 mln ha or 50.4% of the planted area (13.3 mln ha in 2020).
