According to operational data of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, as of 22 August, grain and leguminous crops in Ukraine were harvested from a total area of 6.759m hectares, which is 61% of the planned area. The gross grain harvest is estimated at 28.595 million tonnes with an average yield of 42.3 centners per hectare.
Thus, only about 46 thousand hectares were threshed during the week. The temporary slowdown in the dynamics of the harvesting campaign can be explained by the fact that the harvesting of two key grain crops (wheat and barley) is almost completed, while corn threshing has not yet started.
In terms of crops, the dynamics of harvesting is as follows:
- wheat - 21.74 million tonnes from 4.86 million hectares (100% of the plan) at a yield of 44.7 c/ha;
- barley - 5.49 million tonnes from 1.4 million hectares (100% of the plan) with a yield of 39.2 centners per hectare;
- peas - 458.5 thousand tonnes from 207.6 thousand hectares (99%) at a yield of 22.1 c/ha;
- buckwheat - 6.2 thousand tonnes from 4.3 thousand hectares (5%) with a yield of 14.4 c/ha;
- millet - 20.4 thousand tonnes from 11.91 hectares (13%) at a yield of 17.9 centners per hectare;
- other cereals and leguminous crops - 882.8 thousand tonnes from 277.3 thousand hectares (78%) with a yield of 32.4 c/ha.
As for oilseed crops, the indicators are as follows:
- sunflower - 51.7 thousand tonnes from 46,7 thousand hectares (less than 1% of the plan) at a yield of 11.1 c/ha;
- rapeseed - 3.36 million tonnes from 1.23 million hectares (98%) with a yield of 27.4 c/ha;
- soya - 7.2 thousand tonnes from 6.6 thousand hectares (less than 1%) with yield of 10.9 centners per hectare.
Also in Ukraine began harvesting sugar beet, which as of 22 August was dug on 0.2 thousand hectares, 7.2 thousand tonnes at a yield of 360 c/ha.
