In the first ten days of November 2016, Ukraine faced disturbed rainy weather conditions, due to movement of a series of cyclones and atmospheric fronts through the territory of the country. There were observed significant fluctuations in daytime air temperatures – from +9…18°C (in the South - + 19…22°), which unusual for early November, to + 1…2°C. The country faced precipitations in the form of rains, mix of snow and rain, and sometimes snow, in most days of the reporting period.

The average air temperature developed within the standard rates in the western half of the country, reduced by 1° in Volyn oblast, exceeded the standard by 1-3° in the remaining oblasts, and totaled +3…5°C, and in northern raions of Chernihiv oblast - +2…2.5°C. In southern oblasts, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Luhansk and Zakarpattia oblasts the index totaled +5.1…8°C, in southern raions of Kherson and Odessa oblasts - +8.1…9°C.

In the warmest days, the maximum air temperature reached +16…22°C, in Volyn, Rivne, Zhytomyr, Chernihiv, Ternopil and Zakarpattia oblasts the maximum temperatures grew to +9…15°C.

In the coolest nights, the minimum air temperature decreased to -2…-6°C, but in Luhansk oblast - to -8°C.

In the coldest nights, the soil surface temperature decreased to -3…-7°C, but in Luhansk oblast - to -9…-10°C. While in the warmest days, the index grew to +13…27°C.

Ukraine faced precipitations for 4-7 days throughout the whole territory of the country. In most oblasts, the average level of precipitations varied within 155-300% of the standard (14-39 mm), in Odessa, Mykolaiv, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, Kharkiv, Volyn, Rivne, Lviv and Zakarpattia oblasts – 330-445% of the ten-day standard (33-68 mm). In Vinnytsya and Kiev oblasts the precipitation reached 92-131% of the standard (11-17 mm). In some raions of Kirovohrad, Odessa, Mykolaiv, Dnipropetrovsk and Poltava oblasts the ten-day precipitation level exceeded 5-6.5 of the standard rates.

In certain raions of Volyn, Lviv, Zakarpattia, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv and Kharkiv oblasts, the ten-day precipitation level reached and exceeded the historical maximum for early November in the monitoring period of 1961-2015 by 13-31 mm for.

In many raions of Zakarpattia, Kharkiv, Sumy, Poltava, Kirovohrad oblasts, some raions of Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Cherkasy, Odessa, Mykolaiv and Dnipropetrovsk oblasts, the daily maximum level reached 1-3.5 of the ten-day standard (21-72 mm).

Relative humidity of the air varied within the range of 76-91%. For one day in some raions of Ivano-Frankivsk and Zakarpattia oblasts the index reduced to 30% and below.

Warm weather conditions for the beginning of November, caused by intense heat coming to most territory of Ukraine, provided very favorable terms for plant growth and development: activation of growth processes in some raions, changes in the phases of development of winter crops. Only in most raions of north-eastern oblasts and Volyn oblast, where the average daily temperatures were below +3°, there was no restoration of such growth process. However, there was insufficient level of heat for fundamental changes in the condition of winter crops in the oblasts which significantly suffered from the summer-autumn drought, and where agrarians planted winter crops in very late terms.

Heavy rains in most oblasts caused waterlogging of the soil, which slowed down further completion of the harvesting campaign of late crops.

The weather conditions for further development of field works in November 2016 in Ukraine will be good and satisfactory.
