Kernel currently provides about 10 per cent of agro-products transportations with its own fleet. This was stated by the company's logistics director Mykola Miroshnichenko, reported on Kernel's Facebook page.
"Investment in the fleet for us is first of all a logical step into the future understanding of the markets in which we operate. Today our vessels cover about 10% of our volumes for carriage. Having such an asset, we have an opportunity to analyse how this business works in order to make the most effective use of these opportunities,’ he said.
Miroshnichenko also stated that for almost three years of martial law, the company, like most businesses in Ukraine, has adapted and learnt to manage risks, turning them into opportunities.
‘Fiscal year 2025 is the year of the farmer - it is Ukrainian agricultural producers who decide where and how to market their products. And we see the potential for us to offer our services. As the largest logistics operator in the agro-industry, we at Kernel provide vegetable oil and grain transshipment services at our terminals. We will actively develop this direction and increase volumes,’ emphasised the top manager.
He also emphasised the importance of the Danube River as an alternative export route for Ukrainian agricultural products.
‘The Danube is an option to hold exports when there is no big water, but it is not a path for growth. In case of stable operation of sea exports, we leave capacities on the river in our strategy as plan B - in case of problems with Great Odessa ports’, - summarised N. Miroshnichenko.
