The Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), currently implemented in European Union countries, will eventually be integrated into Ukrainian legislation. This was stated by Volodymyr Pugachev, Executive Director of the “Danube Soy” Association in Eastern Europe, during his speech at the Soybean and Meal Market conference in Kyiv on March 27.
“CSRD is a new framework for non-financial reporting on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) aspects, aimed at steering the EU economy toward climate neutrality by 2050,” he said.
The directive officially took affect on January 5, 2023, with mandatory reporting set to begin in 2026 based on 2025 data. It applies to all companies listed on regulated markets, (excluding micro-enterprises).
“According to the directive, companies will have to analyze their impact using two different approaches: how their business affects people and the planet, and how sustainability and climate change affect their business,” he explained.
“ As for Ukraine, according to the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 1015 dated October 18, 2024, the CSRD is becoming part of national legislation. This resolution, in particular, approves an operational plan for the implementation of sustainability reporting by enterprises during 2024-2026,” Pugachev noted.
