According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, as of May 16, Ukraine planted 5.105 mln ha of spring grains and pulses, or 91.1% of the planned area (5.601 mln ha).
“Over the past week, the increase in grain and leguminous crops amounted to 784.7 thsd ha,” the Ministry said in a statement.
In general, the dynamics of sowing as of the specified date is as follows:
- wheat - 249 thsd ha, or 101.2% of the plan (246.1 thsd ha);
- Barley - 781.6 thsd ha, or 95.5% of the plan (818 thsd ha);
- peas - 162.1 thsd ha, or 101.3% of the plan (159.9 thsd ha);
- Oats - 166.7 thsd ha, or 102.5% of the plan (162.7 thsd ha);
- corn - 3.566 mln ha, or 91% of the plan (3.912 mln ha);
- Buckwheat - 48.1 thsd ha, or 39% of the plan (124.8 thsd ha);
- millet - 43.1 thsd ha, or 51% of the plan (85.3 thsd ha);
- other grains and legumes - 88.8 thsd ha, or 96% of the plan (92.4 thsd ha).
As for oilseeds, as of May 16, Ukraine planted 4.605 mln ha of sunflower, or 87% of the planned area (5.288 mln ha), and 1.641 mln ha of soybeans, or 82% of the planned area of 1.99 mln ha.
Sugar beet planted area remained unchanged over the week, with 250.1 thsd ha planted, or 97.5% of the plan (256.5 thsd ha).
