According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, as of 19 September, grain and leguminous crops in Ukraine were harvested from a total area of 7.511 mln ha, which is 68% of the planned area (11.116 mln ha). The gross grain harvest is estimated at 31.875 mln tonnes with an average yield of 42.4 kg/ha.
It should be noted that as of September 21 last year, 29.8 mln tonnes of grain and leguminous crops were harvested from 6.841 mln hectares (63% of the forecast). The average yield was 43.6 c/ha.
Currently, harvesting of late grain crops continues, in particular:
- corn - 2.4 mln tonnes from 514.5 thousand hectares (13%) at a yield of 46.6 c/ha;
- buckwheat - 99.4 thousand tonnes from 66 thousand hectares (74%) with a yield of 15.1 centners per hectare;
- millet - 132.01 thousand tonnes from 68.2 thousand hectares (74%) with a yield of 19.4 centners per hectare.
Also, the indicators of gross harvest of wheat - 22.272 mln tonnes, barley - 5.533 mln tonnes and peas - 465.3 thousand tonnes were updated upwards.
As for oilseeds, the indicators of their harvesting as of the above date are as follows:
- sunflower - 4.89 mln tonnes from 2.431 mln hectares (49% of the plan) with a yield of 20.1 c/ha;
- rapeseed - 3.438 mln tonnes from 1.266 mln ha (100%) with a yield of 27.2 c/ha;
- soybeans - 2.642 mln tonnes from 1.293 mln ha (49%) with a yield of 20.4 c/ha.
In addition, Ukraine continues to harvest sugar beet, which as of September 19, was dug on 35.5 thousand hectares (14% of the planned), 1.679 mln tonnes with a yield of 473.3 c/ha.
