Durum wheat harvest in Kazakhstan decreased by 35% in 2023

In 2023, the harvest of durum wheat in Kazakhstan amounted to 534.7 thsd tonnes in weight after finishing. This is 35% lower y-o-y, reports APK-Inform with reference to the final data of official statistics.

At the same time, according to updated data from the Bureau of National Statistics, the harvesting area of durum wheat in the Republic of Kazakhstan decreased to 487.000 ha in 2023 (against 564.000 ha in 2022).

The average yield of spring durum wheat in Kazakhstan in 2023 was 1.1 t/ha (against 1.48 t/ha in 2022).

As APK-Inform reported, in the current season, Kazakhstan became one of the TOP-4 exporters of durum wheat to the EU, increasing supplies tenfold.
