In 2023, the rapeseed harvest in Kazakhstan decreased.
As APK-Inform reports with reference to official statistics, the gross harvest of this oilseed last year amounted to 123.2 thsd tonnes. This is 34% lower y-o-y (188.6 thsd tonnes).
Rapeseed harvesting area in 2023 decreased to 92.6 thsd ha (versus 133.3 thsd ha in 2022). At the same time, the oilseed yield totaled 1.33 t/ha (1.42 t/ha in 2022).
According to the National Oilseed Processors Association (NOPA), the demand for rapeseed in the domestic market of Kazakhstan is quite high. The processing capacity in Kazakhstan is more than 1 mln tonnes of rapeseed per year, which is 9 times higher than the gross harvest.
