China increases grain imports

China has been experiencing a steady increase in grain imports, Xinhua reports, citing official data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China.

Thus, in January-February 2024, China imported more than 13.36 mln tonnes of grain, up 29.57% compared to the same period last year.

In monetary terms, the grain imports amounted to almost $4.03 bln (+1.38%) during the reporting period.

In particular, in February of this year, the imports of grain to China totaled 6.76 mln tonnes, up 20.84% compared with February 2023.

As APK-Inform reported earlier, China will remain the leading importer of agricultural products for the next 10 years.

The prospects of trade with China will be discussed during the international conference Chinese Grains&Oils Congress, which will be held on April 11-12 in Shanghai. The conference guests will have an opportunity to establish direct business contacts with Chinese partners and agree on mutually beneficial cooperation.
