Russia is resuming wheat supplies to Kazakhstan after the lifting of the ban, which was in effect until the end of 2024, Rosselkhoznadzor reported.
Wheat is shipped from the Novosibirsk region.
“14 rail cars with a total volume of 980 tonnes became the first since the beginning of 2025, when the ban on imports of wheat from third countries and EAEU countries, introduced by Kazakhstan for the period from August 21 to December 31, 2024, was lifted,” - specified in the message of the department.
In January this year, Rosselkhoznadzor reported on the shipment of a small batch of Altai wheat to Kazakhstan (20 tonnes).
Recall that the main exporters of grain to Kazakhstan are Siberian regions of the Russian Federation.
At the same time, in the current season Kazakhstan has collected a record harvest of grain - 25.2 mln tonnes. This is 47% higher than in 2023 (17.09 mln tonnes) and 28% higher than the gross harvest in 2022 (22.03 mln tonnes). In particular, the wheat harvest in Kazakhstan in 2024 reached 18.57 mln tonnes (in 2023 - 12.1 mln tonnes, in 2022 - 16.4 mln tonnes). Therefore, neither experts nor specialized agencies do not expect significant grain exports from Russia to Kazakhstan this season.
As it was specified in APK-Inform with reference to the data of official statistics, for 2023/24 MY (from September 2023 to August 2024) Kazakhstan imported from Russia 2.229 mln tonnes of wheat (in 2022/23 MY - 1.99 mln tonnes).
