Kazakhstan is increasing sunflower meal/press cake exports to the EU countries. This was announced by the Chairman of the Public Association "National Association of Oilseed Processors" (NOPA), Yadykar Ibragimov, at the international conference "Baltic Grains & Oils Conference" in Riga.
He specified that over the first 6 months of the current season, Kazakhstan exported 43.29 thousand tons of this product to the EU. This is a 7% increase compared to the same period last season.
At the same time, 85% of the European export volume was destined for Latvia (compared to 98% in the previous season).
"The total export of Kazakhstan sunflower meal/press cake for the first 6 months of the 2024/25 MY increased by 21% and reached 205.4 thousand tons, with the EU's share in the total export volume also being 21% (compared to 24% last season). The decrease in the EU share is related to the opening of the Chinese market, to which Kazakhstan’s oil mills started shipping sunflower meal and press cake from the end of 2023. The opening of new sales channels mitigates the risks of price suppression for processed products and allows goods to be sold at relatively high prices. Therefore, sales diversification is one of the strategic goals that NOPA continuously works on," Y. Ibragimov noted.
In monetary terms, sunflower meal/press cake export from Kazakhstan during this period increased by 11%, reaching $37.27 million.
Kazakhstan's sunflower oil export for the first 6 months of the current season increased even more significantly - by 35%, reaching 287.9 thousand tons (in monetary terms, it grew by 57%, to $274.6 million).
