After three failed seasons, Kazakhstan is gradually increasing supplies of high-protein feed (meal and cake) to China. This was announced during the international conference Chinese Grains & Oils Congress in Shanghai by the Executive Director of the National Association of Oilseed Processors of Kazakhstan (NOPA) Alexander Yashkov.

He specified that in 6 months of the current season Kazakhstan exported 2.1 thsd tonnes of rapeseed meal to China (against 1.1 thsd tonnes in 2022/23 MY) and 0.7 thsd tonnes of sunflower meal (no shipments were recorded last season).

In 2021/22 MY, the company did not supply these products to China.

According to the data presented by the speaker, the peak of exports of Kazakh vegetable meals to China was in 2019/20 MY, when 14.4 thsd tonnes of rapeseed meal and 4 thsd tonnes of sunflower meal were shipped to China.

A.Yashkov noted that Uzbekistan was the main buyer of the Kazakhstan vegetable meal in 6 months of the current season with the share of 41%, followed by the EU countries with the share of 21%, Tajikistan with the share of 15%, and Iran with the share of 14%. The share of China in the imports of the product is 4% (against 1% in 2022/23 MY).

As APK-Inform reported earlier, according to the NOPA estimates, in the next 3 years Kazakhstan may increase the export of vegetable oils and meals to China to $300 mln.
