At the beginning of the new 2024/25 MY, Kazakhstan increased the export of sunflower oil. In September-November of the current season, the supply of the product to the foreign markets reached 111.3 thsd tonnes (100.5 thsd tonnes in the same period last season). It is reported by APK-Inform with reference to the official statistics.
In particular, there was an increase in exports of Kazakh oil to Central Asia and Afghanistan, while China slightly reduced imports.
Uzbekistan (the top importer of this product) supplied 52.35 thsd tonnes (in the same period of 2023/24 MY - 44.52 thsd tonnes, 2022/23 MY - only 22.25 thsd tonnes).
China, which is the 2nd largest importer of Kazakhstani sunflower oil, purchased 29.9 thsd tonnes in 3 months of the current season, down from 33.15 thsd tonnes last season, but up from 19.3 thsd tonnes in the same period of the previous season.
Tajikistan increased the purchases of the Kazakh product to 17.8 thsd tonnes (in the same period of 2023/24 MY - 17.16 thsd tonnes, 2022/23 MY - 12.07 thsd tonnes).
Afghanistan also increased the imports - in September-November of the current season, the country shipped 5.56 thsd tonnes of Kazakh sunflower oil, up from 5.09 thsd tonnes and 1.16 thsd tonnes in the previous two seasons respectively.
It is interesting that in the first 3 months of 2024/25 MY, the shipments to Turkmenistan, which did not purchase sunflower oil in Kazakhstan in previous seasons, were recorded for the first time - in the volume of 5 thsd tonnes.
