On February 13, 2025, an international conference dedicated to the oil and fat market of Kazakhstan and the world will start in the capital of Kazakhstan - Astana - after a long pause.

At the moment, the oil and fat industry of Kazakhstan is the most dynamically developing industry in the agricultural sector. We see not only steadily growing acreage under key oilseeds, but also new records in production and export of processed products.

The acreage under the main oilseeds in Kazakhstan (sunflower, soybean, rapeseed) has increased by 29% over the past 4 years. In particular, the area under sunflower increased by 34%, and under rapeseed - by 27%.

Increasing production of major oilseeds allows both to build a significant export potential in the raw materials segment and to develop domestic processing. In recent years, there has been a decline in raw material exports and an increase in exports of value-added products. In particular, total exports of basic vegetable oils from Kazakhstan have increased by 2.3 times in just 3 years.

An important factor shaping the upward trends is the growing presence of Kazakh products in premium markets. In particular, in 2023/24 MY, the supply of Kazakh sunflower oil to China increased by 40% compared to the previous season, and the supply of rapeseed oil increased by 42%. Also, the EU increased the imports of rapeseed from Kazakhstan by 28% and started to import Kazakh sunflower oil.
