Sowing of spring crops continues in Ukraine

According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, as of April 18, Ukraine planted 2.053 mln ha of spring grains and pulses, or 36.7% of the planned area (5.601 mln ha).

In general, the dynamics of sowing is as follows:

  • wheat - 204.7 thsd ha, or 83.2% of the plan (246.1 thsd ha);
  • Barley - 741.5 thsd ha, or 90.6% of the plan (818 thsd ha);
  • peas - 157 thsd ha, or 98.1% of the plan (159.9 thsd ha);
  • Oats - 136.6 thsd ha, or 84% of the plan (162.7 thsd ha);
  • corn - 748.7 thsd ha, or 19% of the plan (3.912 mln ha);
  • buckwheat - 0.5 thsd ha (plan - 124.8 thsd ha);
  • millet - 2 thsd ha, or 2% of the plan (85.3 thsd ha).

As for oilseeds, as of the reporting date, Ukraine planted 1.396 mln ha of sunflower, or 26% of the planned area (5.288 mln ha), and 116.3 thsd ha of soybeans, or 6% of the planned 1.99 mln ha.

Sugar beet sowing is also underway, with 223.7 thsd ha planted, or 87% of the plan (256.5 thsd ha).
