For the first 4 months of 2023/24 MY, Kazakhstan significantly increased wheat shipment to China compared to the previous season, both in volume and in monetary value. APK-Inform reports this with reference to official statistics.

Thus, in September-December 2023, 154 thsd tonnes of Kazakh wheat were sent to China. This is almost 7 times higher than the same period in 2022/23 MY (22.6 thsd tonnes).

In monetary terms, wheat exports from Kazakhstan to China in the reporting period amounted to $36.9 mln (versus $8.6 mln y-o-y).

Notably, overall wheat supplies from Kazakhstan to China have seen a decline in the new season. Figures indicate a drop from approximately 62 thsd tonnes in September 2023 to 19.3 thsd tonnes by December of the same year. This downturn is primarily attributed to logistical challenges and newly implemented conventions by KTZ governing shipments to China.

We will talk about the prospects for trade between Kazakhstan and China, in particular grains and oilseeds, as well as logistics during the international conference Chinese Grains&Oils Congress, which will take place on April 10-12 in Shanghai.
