Barley topped the top 5 goods of Kazakhstan's exports to Iran in the first 11 months of 2024, APK-Inform reports with reference to information QazTrade.
As it is specified, for the specified period barley for $69.5 mln was exported to Iran. It is 68% higher than the index for 2023 ($41.2 mln). At the same time, the share of barley in the structure of Kazakhstan's exports increased from 53% in 2023 to 69% in the first 11 months of 2024.
The second place after barley is occupied by sunflower meal/cake. In January-November 2024, this product was supplied for $10 mln (against $7.4 mln in 2023), its share in the structure of exports to Iran amounted to about 10% (approximately at the level of the previous year).
A new product in the structure of Kazakhstan's exports was sunflower oil, shipments of which to Iran in 2023 were not carried out. According to the results of 11 months of 2024, this product was exported for $4.9 mln, the share in the export structure reached almost 5%.
Also for 11 months of the last year there were recorded deliveries of a large volume of Kazakh corn to Iran - $4.4 mln (in 2023 shipments were insignificant and amounted to only 3.36 thousand tonnes for the amount of $739 thousand - APK-Inform).
In addition, mutton shipments from Kazakhstan to Iran increased significantly - 15 times (up to $5.6 mln).
In general, as QazTrade notes, trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Iran for 10 years decreased by 45.8% and amounted to $344.3 mln. At the same time, over the past 5 years, trade turnover increased by 44.6%, in particular, exports from Kazakhstan increased by 2%, from $128.5 to $131.2 mln (forecast for 2024, taking into account the results for 11 months).
