China is increasing the share of Kazakh wheat in the total imports of the grain.

According to APK-Inform, in 2023 calendar year, the volume of wheat imports to China from Kazakhstan totaled 512.3 thsd tonnes, up 42.7 thsd tonnes on the average monthly basis. According to the results of 8 months of 2024, the volume of grain imports reached 450.7 thsd tonnes, which is 36% higher than in 2023.

It is also worth noting that in August 2024, Kazakhstan reached the maximum share in the total wheat imports to China, which amounted to almost 14% of the total supply. On average, Kazakhstan provides about 4% of the total Chinese wheat imports annually.

China's position as the largest importer of grain, peculiarities of trade and price trends in the season-2024/25 will be discussed during KAZAKH GRAIN & LOGISTIC FORUM 2024, which will be held on December 5-6 in Astana.
