Kazakhstan completes grain harvest, threshed a record 26.5 mln tonnes

At a meeting of the Government of Kazakhstan on 23 October summed up the results of the harvesting campaign. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, this year the total harvested area of crops totalled 23.3 mln ha, of which 16.7 mln ha were sown with cereals. Field work on them has been completed by 99.7 per cent. With an average yield of 16 c/ha, 26.5 mln tonnes of grain were threshed (17.09 mln tonnes and 10.3 c/ha in 2023 - APK-Inform).

Given the completion of grain harvesting, agricultural machinery has been redeployed to harvest oilseeds. Harvesting has been carried out on an area of 1.9 mln hectares, which is 66% of the harvested area, the gross harvest of oilseeds is 2.1 mln tonnes with an average yield of 10.7 c/ha.

Head of the Government reminded that this year the volume of preferential financing of the industry for the first time reached a record 580 billion tenge. These funds are directed to agrarians for direct lending, interest rate reduction and forward purchase. In 2025, the amount will reach 700 billion tenge. 120 billion tenge has been attracted for leasing of agricultural equipment, farmers are provided with quality seeds and fertilisers.

"Now our main task is to preserve and realise the harvest. The Ministry of Agriculture together with regional akimats should ensure timely removal of grain from the fields, its drying and backfilling to elevators. All bread-receiving enterprises should switch to uninterrupted operation mode. It is important to control proper conditions of grain storage. Also, employees of phytosanitary service should exercise strict control over the quality of grain. At the same time, it is necessary to ensure 100% seed filling for the future harvest,’ Prime Minister said.

The Ministry of Industry has been instructed to control the production of the necessary amount of fertilisers together with domestic producers, and akimats - to conclude supply contracts in advance and ensure storage of stocks in warehouses. The plan for fertilizers for the regions for 2025 - up to 1.9 mln tonnes.

Prime Minister focused attention on timely sowing and harvesting campaigns in 2025. The Ministry of Agriculture together with the holding company ‘Baiterek’ was instructed to start early financing of agrarians - from 1 December this year.
